This sign is what truly started my whole journey of making signs. I've been a crafter and painter all of my life. I have always been itching to draw, paint or make anything I could. Yes, I have made other signs in the past. Small or special signs for friends and family but THIS one is the one that pushed me into trying to do more.

(Inspiration photo below)

Many have heard of the Christmas story of the gift of the magi. In the movie Mickeys Once Upon a Christmas they reimagined the story this time with your 2 favorite mouses. I used a scene from the movie to create this sign. I cut a piece of plywood and painted it to recreate our favorite characters during the gift giving scene. Using a Jigsaw I was able to precisely cut out Mickey and Minnie. This first Christmas sign was made to help fill our yard for the Christmas season.
We moved into the very well-known and popular Christmas circle. Our neighborhood every Christmas season turns into a winter wonderland. It welcomes thousands of people to come celebrate the holiday season by walking or driving around the circle to view the lights and all the Christmas displays. Upon first moving we didn't have a single outdoor yard decoration. we had lived in a apartment prior so we didn't have the space to extravagantly decorate the outdoors. As many know electricity isn't cheap. I decided to find an option of decoration that i could make on my own that didn't require the use of electricity to very little of it. I looked up YouTube videos, Facebook posts, vlogs, and many more to help strategize the right way to craft a sign that would stand the test of time. Something that could sit out in our yard despite weather conditions and still be able to use year after year. Wood cut out signs were the best option for our family. They are so easy to store. Little to no electricity, we use solar powered spotlights in the night to light up our wood cut out Christmas yard decorations. Just a community sharing the holiday spirit and good cheer to San Diego county free of charge. Even though this neighborhood has been lighting up every December for more than 5 decades the local energy company (SDGE) doesn't give a discount to the residents of Whitney/Mankato better known as Christmas Circle. Residents independently light up and decorate our neighborhood as a community.
